History of JBEDC

2000 : Japan Bio-Pharmacy Corporation was founded as a predecessor of JBEDC. Its business focused on supporting revascularization bio technology venture companies.
2003 : The parent company of Japan Bio-Pharmacy Corporation in U.S. was listed on NASDAQ.
  : Considering the rise in petroleum price and the seriousness of environmental issues, the company shifted its focus on bio-energy development.
  : Dr. Kobayashi was introduced to Jatropha by a NGO called Kakute Limited in Arusha, Tanzania.
  : Realizing the possibility of Jatropha oil to become a drive of economic development in under-developed countries, a closer research on Jatropha was started.
2004 : Started a 200ha Jatropha plantation in Cambodia by transporting 500kg of Jatropha seeds from Tanzania.
  : Founded Cambodia Bio Energy Development Corporation (CBEDC) as an affiliated company of JBEDC.
2005 : To further promote the use and development of bio-energy, the companyfs name was changed to todayfs Japan Bio-Energy Development Corporation (JBEDC).
  : Conducted a Cambodia Jatropha BDF Feasibility Study funded by ECFA.
2007 : Signed a Consultancy Contract with the Ministry of Agriculture and Afforestation of Myanmar for Jatropha BDF development.
  : Appointed as an advisor for a Jatropha plantation project in Egypt, and proposed a 500,000ha Jatropha BDF project to the Egyptian government.
  : Founded Lao Bio Energy Corporation (LBEC) in Lao P.D.R.
  : Started a rural development project by using Jatropha BDF in Laos.
  : Completed the first increase in capital. We are still looking for more investors.
2008 : Signed a MOU with the Thai Bio Energy Development Corporation on the bio-energy development in Cambodia and Laos in June.
  : Participated in the Biofuels World (a bio-energy fair) held in Yokohama from July 9th to 11th.
  : Held a Bio-Energy Seminar in Egypt funded by JBIC in July.
  : Planning to enlarge the Jatropha plantation site in Cambodia (aiming to achieve 50-100 ha).
  : Started a Jatropha experimental farm in Laos (aiming to reach 20ha).
  : Planning to establish a Jatropha center in Myanmar based on the MOU from August.
  : Planning to have the second increase in capital in November. (we are now looking for investors).
